  • Austin offers 14,300 acres of parks, including the 227-acre enclave of the Wild Basin Wilderness Preserve and the 640-acre McKinney Falls State Park.
  • More than 150 miles of lakes originate from Austin, stretching west and north into the Hill Country of Central Texas. Seven dams along the Colorado River create a chain of lakes that provides water access for boating, skiing, sailing, fishing and swimming.
  • Built on the shores of Lake Travis, the Volente Beach Water Park offers two 40-foot waterslides, basketball and volleyball courts, three acres of sandy beaches and large swimming pools.
  • The Austin Zoo and the Austin Nature & Science Center are fun for the whole family, and the Wonder World Park offers a sneak peek at the nation’s only earthquake-formed cave.
  • Austin offers four major shopping centers:
    • The Arboretum features Nine West, Structure, Limited Express, Gap, Gap Kids and Banana Republic.
    • Barton Creek Mall has more than 150 retailers and anchor stores, including Dillard's, Foley's, JCPenney, Sears, Pottery Barn, Talbots, Abercrombie & Fitch, Godiva Chocolatier and The Body Shop.
